Job Description
A+1 Academy is looking for an experienced AP Chemistry Teacher to join our teaching team. We are seeking someone who is familiar with the AP Chemistry curriculum and can help high school students build strong conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and AP exam strategies.
Responsibilities
- Teach AP Chemistry small-group or 1-on-1 classes
- Prepare students for the AP Chemistry exam, including MCQ and FRQ practice
- Explain key topics clearly, such as atomic structure, chemical bonding, kinetics, equilibrium, thermodynamics, acids and bases, and electrochemistry
- Help students improve calculation accuracy, lab-based reasoning, data interpretation, and experimental design skills
- Provide class feedback and communicate student progress when needed
- Prepare lesson materials or adapt existing curriculum based on student needs
Qualifications
- Strong background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field
- Prior AP Chemistry teaching or tutoring experience preferred
- Familiarity with AP Chemistry exam format and College Board expectations
- Able to teach in person in Irvine, CA preferred
- Responsible, patient, and good at working with high school students
- Experience with Chemistry Olympiad or other chemistry competitions is a plus
Compensation: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
